Media Management

As what was once physical becomes digital, traditional mechanisms for managing our personal and family collections are being transformed. Much of our day to day media is now in a digital format. Music that was once stored on vinyl LPs, casettes, and Compact Discs (CDs) are now digital files as MP3, WAV or other format. Physical photos and snap shots are now mostly digital files in JPEG. Video movies that we rented or that we took of the family vacation were stored on VHS video casette are now stored as MOV or MPEG-4.

The media management project is considering how individuals and families are dealing with the transition from physical to digital media and the associated strategies that they have for handling their ever growing collections.
