Course Paper


The paper requirement is designed to allow you to illustrate your understanding of the readings in the course. The paper is an individual assignment.

You will write and submit a 7-10 page paper, double spaced, 12 point, Times Roman Font (or equivalent), on one of the following topics:

  1. Awareness - What is awareness and how is it used in the research on Wikipedia?
  2. Coordination - How do individuals in Wikipedia coordinate their activities?
  3. Conflict - How do you define conflict in Wikipedia and how has the existing research illustrated ways to mitigate or resolve conflict?
  4. Group - What is a group? How does the research on Wikipedia define a group and where are these definitions?
  5. Sensemaking - How do individuals in Wikipedia make sense of what is happening in the system?
  6. Tools - What are some example tools in Wikipedia and how do they help individuals collaborate?

Your paper should properly cite your sources. You should carefully edit, spell check, and proofread your paper.

To help you complete this, you will submit the assignment in two parts.

Draft Submission (Due February 1st):
Submit a draft that includes an introductory paragraph of your paper and a high level outline of the paper (5% of grade).

Final Submission (Due February 27th):
Submit the final version of your paper.
